Antonio is a first generation Argentinian. He grew up in Buenos Aires Argentina, where he studied psychology. At the age of 22 he left Argentina to explore the world. Pursuing his interest in primitive culture, shamanism and religion, he traveled and lived for years in South and Central America. He then went on to India where he lived for 8 years. In 1986 he moves to Canada.and in 1992 to Salt Spring Island, in the Canadian west coast . Since moving to Salt Spring, Antonio began to pursue his passion for woodcarving, building on the years of influence of primitive art and exposure to the surrounding nature. Some years after, he discovered the lathe and began turning wood. By 1999 he was combining the turning with sculptural carving techniques and his work took form.
He has sold his work through local galleries and from his home-based studio gallery “Madrona Gallery”. As the island is a popular international tourist destination, Antonio’s works are in homes in Europe, Japan, Australia, the U.S. and throughout Canada.
